Life at Brandon Park

Delivering premium nursing care in Suffolk

Brandon Park House is a beautiful Grade II Listed country mansion originally built for the Bliss Family in c.1830. The House has had an interesting and varied history with the original owner of Brandon Park, Edward Bliss, holding the position of High Sheriff for the county of Suffolk. Edward bliss was an influential businessman and amassed a great fortune by the manufacture of gun flints during the Napoleonic Wars, before his death in 1845.

The property stayed in Bliss family ownership until 1903 when it was first sold to a private individual. In 1936 the property changed hands again, this time to the Forestry Commission, who passed the property to Suffolk County Council. In 1982, the house was separated from the gardens and was converted into a luxury hotel. The house remained as a hotel until 1992, when it became a nursing home.

Today, Brandon Park stands in two acres of formal gardens and is surrounded by a further 32 acres of beautiful gardens and mature woodland owned by Suffolk County Council and operated as a public open space. In fact, Brandon Country Park is now one of Suffolk’s most popular public assets, with over 180,000 visitors annually. Many of the original features of the house and garden have been preserved for the enjoyment of the residents and visitors alike. The Nursing Home offers premium long term, convalescent and respite care in a stunning facility.

Brandon Park is bordered by the magnificent Thetford Forrest, which offers a multitude of wonderful outdoor experiences. In addition, Brandon Park sits adjacent to The Elveden and Euston Estates and Center Parcs holiday resort.

Daily life at Brandon Park is a mixture of enjoyable social events and peaceful relaxation.

For those residents wishing to keep themselves occupied, our activities coordinators arrange a busy schedule of interesting and varied activities. Importantly, relatives and friends are always encouraged to join in. Residents who do not wish to take part in groups activities are given time on a one to one basis, allowing them enjoyable conversation and providing them with company.

Additionally, larger events are organised on a yearly basis, such as the annual cricket match at Stowlangtoft Hall, coffee mornings, and trips to local attractions. Whatever your interest, there is something at Brandon Park for you.
