Life at Melford Court

Delivering premium nursing care in Suffolk

Melford Court is a beautiful Grade II Listed country mansion originally built in the  late 19th Century. The House, which was previously know as The Laurels, is located at the Heart of the historic wool town of Long Melford.

Melford Court is built of white brick with stone rusticated quoins. It is known for its fabulous carved stone ‘shell hood’ doorway.  However, perhaps its most unique feature is a large open arcaded cupola with a pyramid roof that provides uninterrupted 360 degree views over the town.

The house was extended in the 1860s, to increase its stature as a prominent family home, and then again in the 2000s to provide specialist nursing facilities.

  • Regular days out
  • Community and charity events
  • Various groups
  • Games and puzzles

Daily life at Melford Court is a mixture of enjoyable social events and peaceful relaxation.

For those residents wishing to keep themselves occupied, our activities coordinators arrange a busy schedule of interesting and varied activities. Our regular events include singing, painting, cards and other board games, movie afternoons, reminiscence and poetry readings, as well as regular live music performances. Importantly, relatives and friends are always encouraged to join in. Residents who do not wish to take part in groups activities are given time on a one to one basis, allowing them enjoyable conversation and providing them with company.

Additionally, larger events are organised on a yearly basis, such as the annual cricket match at Stowlangtoft Hall, coffee mornings, and trips to local attractions. Whatever your interest, there is something at Melford Court for you.
