Moving into your new Care Home
Thank you for choosing a Stow Healthcare home. To help prepare you for moving into your new care home, we have put together some brief
Permanent or Long Term Care is very popular at our homes and enables people who no longer wish to live at home or who are no longer able, to be fully supported by our dedicated team 24 hours a day in lovely surroundings, which you are very much encouraged to make your own. Visitors are welcomed and we usually find that families and friends become as much as part of life at the home as you do. Often people may wish to start with us on a ‘respite’ basis to see how they settle in and enjoy life at our homes.
Respite care provides 24 hour expert care from trained staff and registered nurses to enable the full time carer at home to have a break. Regular breaks for full time carers are very important to allow you to recharge your batteries, catch up on jobs and to enjoy a bit of precious ‘me time’. We offer respite care from as little as two weeks, and this can be extended as required. Respite care may also be useful when a regular carer, whether paid or unpaid is away on holiday and you need to have that piece of mind that everything will be well in their absence.
Respite care is charged at the same weekly rate as for permanent residents, making if affordable to have regular breaks throughout the year to benefit both parties.
Respite care is personal to you and your needs and we can help those who need any of the following:
Convalescence care is arranged on the same basis of respite care and is often very useful when someone is leaving hospital after a planned or unplanned operation or after an accident for example. It provides quality care to those planning on returning back home who need to be helped to regain strength and independence. We are able to recommend a local private physiotherapist who can come to the home to support you on an individual basis to aid in recovery of breaks and fractures for example.
Palliative care is a specialist area for our homes. We work in close collaboration with the local hospitals and hospice and with our local GPs to ensure that we can provide every necessary support to those with palliative care needs. Additionally our staff work closely with families, who need just as much support as those who are living in our care. We have an excellent reputation for the quality of our palliative care in this area.
